Back in the saddle again !
Don’t you just hate crowded beaches ………..?!
As you will work out from the above, we have just got back from the Ile de Re, taking our usual ‘peace and quiet’ week earlier this year. You will also work out that we had beautiful blue skies and sunshine, but ……. a VERY chilly cold wind which made cycling less of a pleasure than usual. Also, although I thought I had a booked a week when all the youngsters would be back at school, I was wrong. The cycling paths were heaving, but the beaches up to about 4pm were empty ! So a nice sheltered spot on the beach where it was beyond warm, a good book and I was in seventh heaven. Yep only one bike, Ernst decided he wasn’t going to cycle this year, partly I think he was more shaken than he realised after his nasty fall last year and also because he is having a lot of problems with his hip ……… but won’t do anything about it. Ditto his hearing, grrrrr !
I see last month I was waxing lyrical about the weather and working in the garden. More fool me ! I bought some plants thinking there would be no more frost, then forgot to put them in the greenhouse overnight just the night where the temperatures went down to 2°. Of course I lost them. I have replaced, they are in the greenhouse and staying there until next week when, supposedly the temperatures will go up slightly. I just hope that the rain lets up too, that was a really miserable May 1st yesterday.
Meantime Danielle has been really busy with people find litters of puppies all over the place. The Border Colley mixes were in and out of the refuge before they could get on the website, there is just one of the Shelties left and the ones who look a bit Staffie like are going quickly too. Just love Staffies.
I do recommend anyone looking to adopt a dog/puppy to keep an eye on Danielle’s facebook page – La Mere aux Betes – because sometimes, by the time the dogs are ready to go and I can put them on my adoptions page, they have already been reserved.
Before finishing I just want to give a little mention to a very special TJ who died well before his time and who we know will now be happy in the arms of the original TJ who found him when he was a lost, abandoned pup. Both missed more than words can say.
So, now it’s goodnight from me and these little monsters below.
