ADOPTED !!
IDOO – yet again we had nothing to do with the stupid name ! A lovely little Coton de Tulear who is likely to go very quickly so if you are interested, don’t hesitate. Idoo is seven years old and a lovely little boy. His one problem is that when it is food time IT IS FOOD TIME LEAVE ME ALONE !! Protective of his food, keep your fingers out. I have never understood why it is thought a good test of a dog to try to take his food away, try to separate me from milk chocolate and see what happens ! However, in view of the foregoing, best for a retired couple, not for a family with young children just in case.

ORPHEE
ADOPTED ! Orphee was adopted then returned (see Newsletter for beginning June), then she had hardly had time to unpack when she was off again to La Clousaz up in the mountains. This time it is a forever home and she is proving to be the great dog we said she would be and having a great time.
Orphee is a German Shepherd crossed with a Malinois. A fantastic dog, just ten months old she is a very bright dog who will make a fantastic loyal companion.
ORKA AND ORLANE
PETIT BOUT
It breaks my heart that little Petit Bout is still waiting for that lovely home, he is such a sweetie with a lovely nature. Ok so he is not going to win any beauty contests but hey he still deserves love. At seven years old he would be ideal for anyone of retirement age who is looking for an easy companion. Wouldn’t it be great to get him ‘in out of the cold’ before Winter sets in ?
FANNY
This little lady is called Fanny and is an absolute delight. A Pinscher mix she would be ideal for any couple who want a small dog that can be taken anywhere and everywhere. Her owner has died so she finds herself without the comfy fireside she once had. Fanny is just two and a half years old and is chipped, vaccinated and sterilised ready to go !
ORION
OBABY
5/11/18 GREAT NEWS ! Obaby has gone on trial to a new home and first reports is that she is the most easy well behaved dog, difficult to believe she is only five months old. We’re keeping everything crossed that this is the home for her !
Obaby, should have been christened Wow Baby ! A truly delightful little (little ? I mean big !) female pup who, at just four months is already weighing in at 16.7 kilos ! Yep, she’s going to be a big girl. Daddy is a Newfoundland and Mum is a shepherd mix. I know there are those of you out there who love big dogs and they don’t come along very often, so don’t hesitate. Obaby is here at Poorpaws and is proving to be a really gentle, affectionate young lady. Fine with other dogs and cats and good as gold inside and out.
OPRAH AND ODILE
Here are Oprah (the fluffier one) and Odile two of the Newfie cross pups below. These two are now with Poorpaws and are adorable. Two little two month ladies who are mixing happily with the rest of the crew and not perturbed by the change in their circumstances. Weighing in already at just over seven kilos, these are not going to be lap dogs – unless you have a very large lap !
BORDER/ AUSTRALIAN COLLEY MIX
PUPPIES !
OGGY
So here I am, left alone ! My brother and sister have been adopted and now even Mum has gone to a new home, so there is just lonely moi ! Can’t understand it, I am so CUTE ! Even learning now that a dish is for eating out of rather than sitting in !
NOE
Noe is a gorgeous Setter / Spaniel mix of eight months old. These are great dogs with great characters, friendly, affectionate and fun loving. Wonderful family dogs who do nevertheless need to know basic training if they are not to go completely bananas !
NORA
Believe it or not, this young lady Nora is a Spaniel / Jack Russel mix and is much smaller than this photo would indicate ! Just eleven months old she is very affectionate once she gets to know you.
NOUBA
CHOCOLATE PUPS
Well hallo there, how about us then ? ! Daddy is a Chocolate Lab and Mummy is a sheepdog, to you get not only brains but beauty and a lovely temperament also. We are just one month old and need to stay at home for another month, then we’ll be ready for the big wide world once chipped and vaccinated. We are two little boys.
NAOMI
PUPPIES
SPRINGER SPANIEL PEDIGREE PUPS
Let me say now that every picture tells a story ! The reason these photos are, to say the least, pathetic, is because we have here Springer Spaniel puppies, all male. You try taking a photo of a Springer not on the move, especially if it has been raining for ever and you are wearing a white t-shirt ! Those of you who know the breed will be saying “OMG, four together !” because Springers are, to say the very least energetic ! They need to be occupied, busy, nearly every waking moment, otherwise be prepared to lock yourself in a darkened room. Not selling them very well am I ? This is because you should only adopt one if you have the time and the patience to train him and be prepared to do it properly. Not for you if you want a dog just to fuss, pet and cuddle. Of course these pups will do all of that and be delighted to do so, but they will then run rings round you. We really have to be careful where they go to as, like Border Collies they need brain stimulation. Having painted the dark side, if you have the time to devote to training seriously, you will be rewarded with one of the loveliest, friendliest and most devoted of dogs.
NANOU
NAOMI
Little Naomi is a dachshund mix almost black in colour. 14 months old and weighs in at 5 kilos. A little timid at first Naomi will soon become your friend. Because of her nervousness she needs to go to a family where there are no very young children who may not understand that dogs are not toys ! She needs a calm environment.
If you are keen to know more about Naomi, please call my colleague Danielle on 0565219450
BARNEY
Six year old Barney is a very cool, laid back sort of dude ! He is great with children, no worries with other dogs, he just needs to be where chickens and anything else ‘feathery’ is not ! He will not be all over you like a rash he will just be happy to be there by your side, take long walks and help you with the crossword in the evening. Oh, he would rather be safe in another room when you get the Hoover out ! Chipped, vaccinated to date and neutered.
NELSON
27/04/18 Lovely Nelson has gone to a great home. I can tell you a few tears were shed here when he went off on his Very Big Adventure. Latest report is that he has not let us down and is adored by all who meet him.
Here is an up to date photo of dear Nelson. He is about six months old and is just a great all round dog. Friendly, affectionate, fine with other dogs and is learning about cats. He does not run off on walks and is fast becoming a firm favourite. If you are looking for a fine family dog, look no further.
TOBY
15/04/18 YES !!! After OVER A YEAR of waiting and training I have at last been adopted by a lovely man who even wrote a few days after he had adopted me to say how loved I am by all the family and congratulating Danielle on the amazing education she gave me to be a Very Good Boy. So, so happy at last !!
23/02/18 Well, here I am still here after nine months of waiting for my forever home. I have not been picked and just cannot understand. I have come on in leaps and bounds (no pun intended) in my training and am just a fabulous dog. I am looking for an active home where I will have longs walks – and I know there are a lot of you out there who regularly go on walks together – and an enclosed garden to play in when I am not out or sleeping. PLEASE will someone give me a chance ?
May 2017. Hallo there ! Not a great photo but it is difficult as I’m always smiling or laughing ! I’m Toby, a mix of Spaniels and I am FUN !! I’m only six months old and at the moment am learning to be a Very Good Boy here at Danielle’s. I love playing with other dogs and I love country walks with my nose to the ground – you could even get me to hunt truffles !! I look totally black in this photo but in fact I have some very attractive chestnut colouring also.
NESTLE AND NANCY
31st MARCH NANCY AND NESTLE WENT OF TO A NEW HOME TODAY – TOGETHER !!
No interest in these two so far, cannot understand it ! Should I perhaps add that they do not have to be adopted as a pair? They can be separated.
Ok, back off and form an orderly queue please ! These babes were found wandering the streets and there has been no success in finding where they came from. They have been with us here at Poorpaws for the last five weeks or so and are now a tad larger than this photo (my camera has given up the ghost). About four months old, on your left meet Nestlé, so named because his ears look as if they have been dipped in chocolate. We thought he was a hunting dog but as he has got a bit bigger his ears don’t seem as large and our vet thinks he is more a spaniel mix. On the right is Nancy a perfectly beautiful grey and white Border colley mix. Both are now chipped an vaccinated and waiting to enrich your life. Oh sooooooo cute !
HELLIOT
I know there are lots of you out there who just love this sort of scruffy look – for dogs too boom boom ! Little Helliot is five years old and his owner has died. He is a absolute cutie and fine with children, cats and other dogs. Helliot is chipped, vaccinated and is due for neutering in a couple of days. We expect him to go quickly so don’t delay !
PROLIFICATION OF PUPPIES !!!
Prolification of pups, not sure if that is correct but that is certainly what we have here !
ONE FEMALE LEFT. Ok, from the top – Beauceron / German Shepherd mix. Those of you looking for intelligence and faithfulness, look no further. At three months old these pups are ready to go.
ALL HOMED. Next down, also ready and waiting, a selection of Bouvier d’Appenzall. Also three months old these should be biggies !
ALL SHAR PEI PUPS HAVE NOW BEEN HOMED. Finally, and OMG just look at those little faces ! Right, ready for this ? These are Shar Pei crossed with Basset Hounds !!!! Just so adorable. Three months and bags are packed.
Before adoption all pups will be vaccinated and chipped.
MALY
MAX
BEST NEWS EVER ! Max’s owner’s circumstances have changed and she can now keep her beloved Max !
Max here is six years old and is a ‘biggie’ !!! Under very sad circumstances his owner is looking for a new home for him. Max is a Lab/Anatolian Shepherd dog, known for their protective qualities. Max is chipped and neutered and weighs in at between 35 / 40 kilos, so not for the weak and feeble as he needs a very strong hand on the lead. He loves to travel in the car and loves cuddles and affection. When not on the lead he goes happily towards other dogs but can be difficult when on the lead. He is not particularly a player or a fighter, very faithful to his owner. Max needs a home with someone who knows the breed and who has a large enclosed garden. Up to now Max has been living in an apartment (!) with regular long walks but a good garden is really essential. This will be an ‘owner to owner’ adoption and if you require more information please contact Mrs. Peterson on 0553617395.
ARCHIBALD
MELKO
All together now “ahhhhhhh” ! This little boy was found wandering the streets and all attempts to find his owner have failed. Now, how on earth can a treasure such as this not be missed or looked for ?! He is a Bichon, about just over a year old and is now being cared for by Danielle though there is the possibility that he may come to Poorpaws. I LOVE Bichons, to me they are the perfect small dog, affectionate, quick to learn and, despite the appearance are ‘dogs’ ! Melko reminds me so much of my Scoopy who is just adorable and so easy to love.
PRINCE
This lovely lad is Prince. In the photos he looks like a small dog but he is in fact about the size of a Border Colly, so, medium. Prince is a 10 month German Shepherd mix who was living in an apartment but taken away from the owners for lack of care. He is a beautiful boy, at present in Danielle’s care, receiving love and training. He will require a home where exercise is high on the agenda – which is probably every home in the country at the moment as we try to rid ourselves of festive excesses !
NONNY AND NOLLY
Well, how about these two little bundles of mischief to start off the New Year ?! Meet Nonny and Nolly who look as if butter wouldn’t melt but don’t be fooled, they have energy and character in abundance. Not for them the little handbag/accessory life, they want action ! Think more of a Jack Russel character. Hugely affectionate nonetheless and will follow you anywhere. Just two and a half months old, chipped and vaccinated. Nonny, the boy is the one with the white stripe down his face and Nolly, well, obviously, is the other one !
JAZZ JUNIOR
Right, I have to be honest here and say that I am not sure if this is Junior or his sister !! They are as alike as two peas in a pod. Sister has been adopted and Junior is just waiting for his forever home – got a feeling he won’t be waiting long. A pure ShihTzu, three months old and cute as a button, in fact a whole bag full of buttons !!
MARLEY
MARKO
MISSY
LISA
Lisa, oh Lisa, if only I listened to my heart and not my head. Lisa is, yes, you’ve guessed it, a Brittany Spaniel, the bestest breed ever ! Two years old Lisa would make a wonderful companion. She is slightly timid at first so would need a fenced in garden, but once she knows you she will never leave your side. She adores walks in the country and Brittanys, whilst being hunting dogs, are the most faithful friends and can live quite happily without hunting. I know, I’ve got some.
MINTY
Minty here is a Jack Russel/Parsons Terrier mix who has had some real bad luck. He is one and a half years old and was the absolute beloved family pet. Sadly, in the family was a little girl who would just not leave him alone and he ended up nipping her. Understandable in my view but obviously not acceptable. Minty has undergone an evaluation with Danielle and has proved to be totally unaggressive, friendly and affectionate so we think he really was pushed one step too far. He is fine even with cats and no problem with other dogs. However, to be on the very safe side Minty cannot go to a family where there are very young children, only older ones who will not torment the life out of him.
NEURO
NORBURY
Norbury is a timid little pup of about four months old. He turned up at a friend’s house very frightened, who knows what scary things he had encountered on his journey. Now safe with Danielle Norbury has made great puppy strides and needs a home with people who will have the patience and kindness to help him overcome his fears and restore him to the happy pup we hope he once was.
KIARA
NESTOR
Little Nestor here is ten years old and is in desperate need of a new home. Rescued from a trip down euthenasia avenue, Nestor is in foster care but sadly cannot stay there any longer. A very friendly little chap Nestor is blind in one eye and probably going blind in the other one too, so a secure home and garden is needed most urgently so he has time to get used to his surroundings before losing sight in the other eye. Poorpaws followers usually are great at coming forward in these cases so I’m hoping Nestor will be lucky too.
DINO
06/02/2018 WOULD YOU BALLY BELIEVE IT ?!! After all this time Diego has gone on trial to a great ‘outdoorsy’ family ! Make sacrifices to your gods that all goes well for him !!
Meet DINO ! A fabulous Beauceron mix of two and a half years old. Dino is chipped and neutered and is FULL OF BEANS !! A lovely friendly boy who needs a large enclosed garden and lots of exercise. He is a very gentle, affectionate dog who needs to be where chickens and small farm animals are not ! Dino is in the Tarn et Garonne.
NINOU
NAROU
OMG this little lad surely won’t wait for long for a home. He is a two month Griffon mix and I know the Brits adore the rough haired look of Griffons. We’ve had quite a few here at Poorpaws and I am sure that, without exception, they have been fabulous. Great companions though most are used for the chasse – but we won’t dwell on that !
NAYA
Hi there, my name is Naya and don’t you think I look fun ?! I am a female Pointer mix of just four months and I am a brilliant dog ! Wouldn’t you just love to get up in the morning knowing that I’m downstairs just waiting to play or go for a walk. think of all the compliments we would get together as we stroll along ! I’m learning to be a very good girl so that when you pick me up I’ll be ready to go !
