IGOR

Igor new homeCan this be true ?!  Is this really me, Igor, son of Caline, in this fabulous place ?!!!  Woweeeee !!!!!!  I was handed over to my new family at the Poorpaws Barn Book Sale (hmm they didn’t let me get anywhere near the cakes I noticed ), stayed a few days with my new owners’ owners, then a long drive down to the South where I have landed in happy, happy doggy land.  My new mum Elizabeth does lots of running and takes me with her (she’s a bit slow though don’t tell her I wouldn’t like to hurt her feelings) that is great fun.  The kids play with me and I am gentle with them trying not to get too excited.  So, all in all RESULT and Well Worth Waiting For !!!!

Indy

Indy and WoodyHiya, see me ?  That’s me with my new brother and pal Woody.  Of course you all know Woody as he is already on the Happy Endings page and boy am I happy to be there too now.  It was a close thing as my new Mum and Dad came to see TWO other dogs  (one of which was Caline, well, huh, you may have read what a wuss she is ! ) then they asked to see the pups.   Well, easy peasy, deal done I put on a ton of ‘cute’ and was snapped up !  Feel a bit guilty about the other two but, hey, we black dogs don’t often get lucky.  I just  l u r v e  Woody even though he played hard to get at the beginning and now life is just one huge bowl of cherries.

Ivor

Ivor and Inca

Well just look at ‘my’ boy now !!  Regular Poorpaws followers will remember Ivor who was rescued by Caroline, brought to Poorpaws, stole my heart and was adopted by Karen.  I cried buckets when he left and couldn’t even be present to say goodbye !  However, it is so good to know that i wasn’t wrong about him, he is special.  Plays beautifully with his friend here, Inca and is very sweet to the older dog in the family.  Stay just as sweet as you are Ivor and you won’t go wrong !

Filly

FillyJust received this lovely photo of Filly.  Look down through Previous Poorpaws and you will see her as a pup.  Well, three years on, hasn’t she turned into a lovely, lovely lady and is doing very well after a slightly wobbly start !

HOLLY

Holly ne home and Danielle's dogs 002Here is  my babe in the arms of her delighted new owner Pierrick, it was mutual love at first sight (much to my disappointment !!).  Holly charmed everyone she met on her first evening down on the Cote d’Azur and was very quickly running around playing with Hector and Houston, two previous Poorpaws , who are her new brothers.   Grief I miss her but it is better for her to be there with youngsters than here with old fogies !  I just know she is going to be very happy, but if not she has a permanent return ticket !!!

JESS

JessThis is me with my lovely new name discovering my lovely new home.  it took so long for me to be adopted but now I know why, I was waiting for the Dingles to come along and I’m so glad I waited.  I am the Bruno de Jura who was on Poorpaws website for ages after my sister had been adopted and want to know the best news ever ?  My sister lives only ten minutes from me so there’s gong to be one hell of a party very soon !!

DEMO

Demo on holsHi countryfolk, this is Demo checking in from the Cote d’Azur.  In fact, here you see me en route for a holiday in Switzerland !!  My new family were going to fly up there but when it was found I am too big (ha ha !) to fly in the cabin with them, the tickets were trashed and we drove.  Now that’s what I call love !!

Honey

Hope I'm allowed to take this one inside !
Hope I’m allowed to take this one inside !

Hallo earthlings  – I say earthlings because I must be in heaven now !!  I was looking for a new home last year because I had grown too big for my first owner and her little garden.  Well boy, just look at me now, have you ever seen any dog so beautiful ?  I feel so lucky and hope that other hopefuls get the same chance.

Hinza

Hinza on the Cote d'AzurGreetings to all of you from ……. MONTE  CARLO !!!  This is Hinza calling – now Yucca – and here’s me and my new pal Brooklyn.  We’re having such fun here, we get on so well, we have walks every day and get to the country at weekends.  Still have the Casino and Night Clubs on my ‘to do’ list but strangely we’re not taken there !

Hector and Houston in their new home.

Well, ain’t life a bitch sometimes ?!  There we were living (and loved we must say) in the cold rainy Lot then after a totally boring long drive we found ourselves on the sunny Cote d’Azur !!  As you can see, life is difficult here.  We have three fabulous young lads who play with us and walk us, then there are 11 cats who we try not to be tempted to chase !  Thank you the Motillon family for choosing us !Houston and Hector new home

Hakita

HakitaHallo ! I’m Hakita (what a great name !) and I was the first of Kirby’s pups to be homed. I’m so lucky, I’ve come to a really lovely family who are so kind to me and who are teaching me to be a Very Good Dog ! The first lesson was to learn to be friends with the family cat and, as you can see, I’ve mastered that one easy peasy. Now, on to “Li down !”, can’t be that difficult !!

Porthos

porthos2

porthos1

Hallo, I’m Porthos and I think I may have died and gone to doggy heaven. I was taken to a refuge as a puppy with my sisters and although they were adopted quickly I stayed there being overlooked for five years. I was sure I was there for good but Kitty and Lenny, two lovely Dutch ladies who loved me asked Sue to put me on the Poorpaws website. Sue asked her friend Evelyn to put me on the Doglinks site and ……………bingo ! Amanda saw, loved and adopted ! I’m just so happy I didn’t know this life existed, I have two lovely playmates and everything is wonderful. Thank you so much everyone and to those still in refuges, don’t give up hope.

Biscuit

Biscuit here very happy in his second home with his ‘sister’ Lucy. Biscuit is proving to be a lovely caring dog and bravely tried to protect his mistress from an attack by a very aggressive dog. Luckily a man with a baseball bat came to their assistance. This has made Biscuit rather timid except at mealtimes when he ‘generously’ picks out three croquettes for Lucy to be going on with until he has finished his meal ! Another happy Poorpaws success.

Greta

Greta is one of those dogs who just grabs hold of your heart by being totally loving, gentle, obediant and everyone’s friend. She came as a puppy to Poorpaws and was overlooked for some reason for a couple of months before some lovely people looked into her eyes and were hooked. She has proved to be every bit as super as I knew she was and now lives a wonderful life. You will always be one of my ‘specials’ Greta !

Harper

Sue was right, I was snapped up within only a few days of arriving at Poorpaws and although I was having great fun there with the rest of the gang, I am LOVING my new life and new owners. Here you can see me practising the Green Cross Code – look right, look left, but even then don’t go unless your owner does. I’m a lucky dog especially as my new friends were looking for a sissy girl. I’ve got a new dog friend too, Yogi, who was adopted from Poorpaws many years ago. I was taken to visit and we got on like a house on fire. I’ll try and get a photo to send so you can see. Have fun, I certainly am !

Lily, Bruno de Jura

“Hey Toby my new Rottie friend, you’ve been here longer than me, do you think that’s our supper they’re preparing in there ?”

“Yes Lily, I distinctly recognise the smell of roast chicken gravy and vegetables. Only problem is, if you don’t eat your cabbage, you don’t get dessert !”

“Bummer ! “

Griff

Meet Griff, one very lucky bunny ! Griff is one of the dogs found whilst I was on holiday and before I could get back to the lovely couple who found him, Griff had wormed his way into their hearts – and onto a cosy rug in front of the fire !! What a beautiful dog who has obviously ended up where he was intended to be. Cockles and warm hearts spring to mind !

Lucy

“Who do you think you’re looking at ?”
Helia – now Lucy – seems to be saying.
“If you think you are going to take me away from my super new home where I am loved to pieces, you’ve got another think coming !”
Panic not Lucy, it would be a brave person who tried to uproot you from the paradise you seem to have landed in, I’ve just still got a few regrets that I didn’t keep you myself !!

Rolf

Rolf here is one of the Labx pups on the adoptions page. He is one lucky lad as the wonderful Smith family travelled well over 1,000 ( YES 1,000) kilometres to go to see him and bring him home. Apparently he is worth every kilometre and has turned out to be a very lovely pup, intelligent, bright and very, very nearly clean. So, a good recommendation for the others !

Fanny

Fanny here has turned out to be the most brilliant, intelligent, obedient and loving dog in the whole wide world – according to her very happy new owners – so yah boo sucks to the rest of you !! We knew she was special and she obviously hasn’t disappointed. Look out Beckham and Rooney, Fanny is up for a place in the England team and she won’t want millions of pounds, just a pat and a few treats !!

Rex

Here is our lovely laid back young golden lab (now called Rex) and his new owner posing beautifully for the camera ! Rex is having a great life and living just over the road from Captain Hastings and Hercule so fun days ahead totally assured !

Flocon (Laika)

Here is little Flocon – now Laika – who was, as we knew she would be, adopted very quickly. She is living in Toulouse, is best friends with a little girl and enchanting everyone who meets her with her adorable character. Lucky Laika and lucky family to get a Jack Russell who is not a little xxx !!

Venard

Venard
Venard

Out of the laundry room and into a fabulous life in the country !  Things couldn’t be better for the lovely Venard who doesn’t seem to miss La Vie Parisienne one little jot, he’s too busy being loved and loveable !

Delphine

Delphine
Delphine

Delphine looks very happy and contented here and so she should do.  AT LAST she must think, a ‘forever home’ – just have a little shut-eye then I’ll drag my lovely new owner down another rabbit hole, he seemed to enjoy it last time !! “

Georgia

Georgia in her new home

Hallo everyone,  Georgia here.  just look at the lovely me with my new family – aren’t I the lucky one ?  I’m learning to be a very good girl and have my own room to go to when I am tired of playing – well I am still only a baby and there are three of them and only one of me !!

Here we see Gus (previously Gaston) obviously trying to make a good impression on his new owners by helping (? !) to clean up the leaves.  He has been warmly welcomed by his new pal Josie and has obviously been lucky enough to land in a place which must be called ‘Happiness’.  Good on you Gus.

Elsie and Emma

Elsie and Emma
Elsie and Emma

Elsie and Emma, two beautiful ex-Poorpaws pups having a great time in the snow !!  We hear that Emma is very sociable and one of her many demonstrations of intelligence is to open the door to let friends in where Elsie is ready with a very welcoming wiggle.”

You look lovely ladies, stay happy.

Jackie and Roxy

Jackie
Jackie

Jackie, on the boat, was adopted from Poorpaws over three years ago and a while later her owners came back to choose a pal for her.  They originally came to see a HUGE hound……………….and went home with this little cotton wool ball, Roxy.  Since then the whole family has moved to New Zealand, via Hong Kong.  A long way from the farm shed for Jackie and from being chucked out by a breeder for having a heart murmur – thank goodness ! – for Roxy !!  I think you will all agree they look like they are having a great time in NZ and apparently have both turned out to have sea-paws !!!  Keep in touch both, New Zealand is on my ‘must visit’ list when I retire !!

Remember the story of Tiny the Terrible and the long journey to find a much nicer dog for Doreen ?  Well, here she is ( Mamou, not Doreen !).  Following surgery and receiving tons of tlc Mamou is doing great in a lovely home.  Silly you Tiny !!

Patchy

Patchy
Patchy

Here is the little terrier who was found, rehomed then three months later ran back to the people who found him as if to say  “nice try, but it didn’t really work out”!.  Re homed again and this time it looks as if it is for keeps.  Here is Patchy (love the name) with his new family and surely that is a big smile on Patchy’s face !  Thanks to all concerned for this Happy Ending.

Remember me ? Lola ?  Well my life has changed so much I can hardly believe it – just hope I don’t wake up and find it’s all a dream !  From being tied up and muzzled on a balcony, I have been adopted by some lovely, lovely people who adore me – and believe me the feeling is mutual.  Here are a couple of photos of my new life.  After a wonderful run on the beach and ‘catching’ waves, what’s a girl to do but snuggle up in her new cosy bed.  Jealous ?  I bet you are !

Elfie

Elfie
Elfie

One of our first homings of 2011 was Elfie.  A large dog who had been put up for adoption.  I’ll bet he was glad he was – just look at these lovely photos.  Elfie has acquired a very dignified name – Captain Hastings (!), and a beautiful home to match.  Well done you Captain H !

Remember little Gypsy ? Back in April 2011 I was convinced she wouldn’t make it and if she did she would be handicapped. Well just look at the beauty with her little mate in front of the Christmas tree !! In perfect health a lovely and much loved Gypsy/Lola couldn’t be happier.

Jackson

Jackson
Jackson

You will have to have been a Poorpaws follower for many years to remember Jackson !  A fabulous hunting type dog mixture who went to a wonderful caring owner with lots of patience – she needed it !!  Jackson turned into a great dog even finally accepting cats, as you can see ! Lucky, lucky Jackson.

Gina

Gina
Gina

Well I don’t think we have to worry about whether or not Gina is happy in her new home !!

After a long journey, a visit to her new vet, a vaccination, here she is zonked out, a sure sign she is happy.  Reports are that she is every bit a special as I always said she is !

Digby

Digby
Digby

Remember poor Benji ?  Tied up 24/7 and walked with a weight round his neck to stop him pulling on the lead ?  Well here he is in his new lovely home.  Oh, and his name is now Digby, although it should be Riley the life he is now leading !!!!

Wellsley

Wellsley

Just to prove that here at Poorpaws we produce ‘la crème de la crème’, here you see Wellsley, one of Lizzie’s pups, helping her owner with the cryptic clue Times crossword, or perhaps discussing the political situation in outer Mongolia !

Evie

Remember Evie, the little pup found in Cahors ?  It was third time lucky for her when the fist two adoptions didn’t workout and here she is very happily posing  – and licking her lips – with other members of the happy Hutt clan.

Diouk

Remember Diouk -(now Woody) ?  He was on the website for such a long time and we were desperately trying to get him out of the ‘no hopers’ bin at Figeac.  Well a lovely girl called Rachael took matters into her own hands, went down there, got him out and as soon as he was officially hers, found a wonderful home for him.  A real kleenex, sniff, sniff ending !

Just when we thought we couldn't be more happier for Diouk (now Woody) , we received this photo. Guess what, we could be happier !

Fuller

After several months at Poorpaws, Fuller’s day has finally been made ! He has gone to a very nice couple where he ticked all the boxes – except one.  Pizza yawns in the car !!  However, his new owners have not given up and there is improvement.  Just as well as Fuller’s new life is to include a lot of swanning around in a camping car !  Deep breaths Fuller, you’ll get over it – I did !!

Fuller

Elfie

After a long wait Elfie has found doggie heaven – or will do when his new owner gets back from a home visit to Norway.  It was obviously love at first sight on both sides and we just now Elfie is in for a great life.  He deserves it after a rotten start in life.  Bursting with affection Elfie will now have his own very special someones to love.

Elfie
Elfie

Frannie and Ellie

Little devil Frannie and Ellie (who was adopted so quickly she hardly had time to turn round let alone get on to the website !) have gone to a great home where Ellie has turned into an obedient shadow and Frannie……………well Frannie is just Frannie !!

Wilbur

Large timid Wilbur is obviously very much at home with his new friends – and has turned out not to be so timid !  He has settled well with his new patient owners and just has to get over his fear of the car.  But I suppose that when living rough he only saw cars as danger. Latest news is that there is improvement and we really appreciate his owners for working with him on this.

Teddy

Long term regulars to the website may remember Teddy a rough-haired terrier who was so depressed at Carcassonne that he had stopped jumping up when people visited and had given up hope.  He came to Poorpaws and I can’t say he was snapped up immediately but was definitely happier and proved to be a lovely dog.  Well, the wait was worth it, just look at our boy now (he’s the one without the glasses ).

Teddy

I can honestly say that tissues were needed when I visited and saw how happy and loved he is.  Good for you Teddy!

After a couple of disappointments and health worries Filly has settled into her great new home with  lovely couple who were anxious to take her even if there were health problems.  Happily Filly is now very well and proving to be a very intelligent adorable dog who has the ability to charm everyone who meets her.  A real Poorpaws star !

Bracken

Bracken
Bracken

Remember Bracken ? A beautiful Brittany Spaniel who found himself homeless after “it’s me or the dog” marital squabble.  (Personally there would have been no contest had it been me – the dog would have won hands – or paws – down !)  Anyhow, Bracken struck gold and went to a fabulous home where his new owners invest a great deal of time in him, introducing him to agility which he adores.  Here he is with his trophies and we are delighted to report that he has a lovely new adopted sister who is following in his pawsteps !
